Return To Domestic Relations Services
By federal regulation, the Jefferson County Domestic Relations Section provides, through the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office, limited legal services to a qualified plaintiff when needed and requested. These services are available to welfare and intercounty/interstate case non-welfare plaintiffs. A plaintiff who is not receiving welfare and files a local case, will be responsible for his/her own representation. The District Attorney's Office is not available for spousal support or alimony cases unless the office is representing the interests of the Department of Public Welfare.
Because of Pennsylvania's expedited process, routine represenation need not be provided. Cases with potential problems can be identified during the intake process and will be referred to the District Attorney's Office for representation.
These services are not intended to take the place of the detailed, personal services that can be provided only by private counsel.
