Family Law Master of Jefferson County Pennsylvania

In all divorce and annulment of marriage proceedings where a responsive pleading has been filed raising an issue that is authorized to be heard by a master, the Prothonotary shall refer the case to the Jefferson County Family Law Master. The Master conducts both settlement conferences and record hearings in cases where the grounds for divorce or annulment are contested. There is no fee to the parties for settlement conferences. Before proceeding to take testimony with respect to a contested claim the moving party shall deposit the sum of $1000.00 with the Prothonotary. Said deposit shall be applied first to the stenographic costs and thereafter to the Master's fees. The Family Law Master brings extensive knowledge and experience to the process of assisting parties reach agreements without incurring the expense and emotional distress of formal litigation.
